Do you need a ghostbuster or a dustbuster?

A coworker recently told me that her son and his friends were going to spend the night at Rolling Hills Paranormal Research Center in Bethany NY. Rolling Hills actually used to be Genesee County Home with history as a former poor house, insane asylum, orphanage and nursing home. There have been reports of figures in windows, strange noises and scary stories for over 170 years. Today the property is open to ghost hunts like the one this adventurous lad took. A lot of people take pictures there and like them, he had a digital camera with him and I was eager to see the results.

Most of the pictures he brought back were filled with "orbs"... balls of transparent light. Now some people say that orbs are just a natural occurance... a flash reflection off of dust, pollen or moisture. Wikipedia says "Naturalistic orbs are most commonly gained using digital cameras and built-in flash. While photographers with archives of photos report having occasionally seen "orbs" in their photos gained with film cameras, the recent rise in reports of orb photos may be directly related to the common availability of digital cameras and associated rise in the number of pictures taken."

Other people say that orbs are paranormal entities. They believe that these spheres of light are supernatural anomalies and can be confused with the similar shaped naturalistic orbs. With this in mind, I pored over the images to see what I could find.

There is a cluster of orbs in what looks to be a very dusty (and creepy) corridor. I certainly could see how these are just dust particles.

Now this is odd. A cloud of dust particles in an abandoned building makes sense, but here is one speck of dust hanging out all by it's lonesome.

Now this is where it gets strange. There's several orbs here. But one looks like it's moving.

Why does one orb look like it's moving while the others are still? Can one piece of dust move faster than others?

Another shot of a "cloud of dust" but what's that?

One speck of dust spinning around? The room is not burry, so there wasn't camera shake. Is it dust? Or is it a ghost spirit making a break for the open door?

Orbs weren't the only things showing up in the pictures... look in the upper right corner.

What is this wispy looking thing?

Another seemingly innocent dust filled room.

With a strange wispy looking trail by the window.

What do you think? Can these all be explained or is there something more to it? What if I told you that the second picture at the beginning was actually something they followed down the hall? Does this place need a ghostbuster or a dustbuster?

Let's just say if these orbs ARE paranomal... these two had a lot for dinner!

(NOTE: Several days after I looked at the Rolling Hills pictures I went to a Moonlight Corn Maze. When I got home I downloaded my pictures and noticed this. An orb floating above us in the corn field. Yikes!)
