Shiny new things at Kodak Gallery

There have been a lot of exciting things going on over at the Kodak Gallery lately.

First of all, they launched a Kodak Gallery iPhone Application! My iPhone and I are attached at the hip so I was thrilled that I could access all my Gallery albums whenever I want.

Check out Robert Carter's post on Plugged In to get the skinny on this new app.

There is also a slick, new design of the slideshows on the Gallery.

You can either view in this carousel layout and make your pics whiz around by clicking on the smaller pics on the left and right of the main image or click on the thumbnails along the bottom.

The mosaic view puts the thumbnails to the right.

Because variety is the spice of life, you can switch the background color to white also.

Lots of new ways to look at my 434 albums on the Gallery. That's right... FOUR HUNDRED AND THIRTY FOUR ALBUMS. I take a lot of pictures.

Kodak Wins Arbus Award at the 28th Annual Muse Celebration

Last week the New York Women in Film & Television held it's Muse Awards and Kodak was the first corporation to win the Loreen Arbus Award. It was in recognition of the company's support of female cinematographers.

"Kodak has long been a driving force behind giving opportunities and recognition to women cinematographers and others in the motion picture and television industries," said Terry Lawler, Executive Director of NYWIFT.  "Kodak was nominated by its customers and chosen for this award because the company has done so much to create new opportunities for women in the business."

Muse award winners, actress Laura Linney, actress Cynthia Nixon, Linda Kaplan-Thaler - founder of the Kaplan-Thaler Group, Cyma Zarghami - President of Nickelodeon MTVN Kids & Family, and Ann Turner, CMO of Kodak's Entertainment Imaging Group.

Kodak Entertainment Imaging Group CMO, Ann Turner, went to New York to accept the award for Kodak.

Here is what Ann had to say about the experience... "The greatest reward is to be honored by your customers. This is what happened at the Women In Film & TV Muse Awards when Kodak received the Loreen Arbus award for supporting women in the entertainment business. Kodak has supported WIFT and its members for more than 25 years beginning in LA. In NYC, I was the first Kodak woman to join back in 1984.

Since then both Kodak and WIFT have come a long way (baby!) Back then we would never have imagined we could hold an event at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom. It was so much fun sharing the dais with Laura Linney, Cynthia Nixon, Linda Kaplan Thaler and Cyma Zarghami. Talk about amazing and talented women!"

Customer Feedback: The Greatest Camera Ever!

We get a lot of emails from customers sharing their stories about their Kodak products. Every once in awhile we get one that makes us all say wow. Here is one of them...

"My name is Jacob West and I am a Sergeant serving in the United States Marine Corps. In 2004 my wife bought 2 EasyShare CX7300's. One was for her and one was for me for my deployment to Fallujah, Iraq. I carried it everyday on my Flak Jacket on over 500 combat patrols and I don't know how many convoys and secondary missions. I covered it in duct tape to keep the sand out. Countless times it was dropped on the concrete and numerous times it bounced and skipped across the ground after being thrown to another Marine that needed to use it for official pictures for documentation.

After returning to the states, the camera was retired to my tackle box to be used as my fishing camera. For 3 years now it has been used and abuse and bounced around in my tackle box. The camera's latest adventure has been a one month stint in Bridgeport, CA at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center where it was exposed to sand and dust, banged around on rocky, mountainous terrain, and performed in temperatures as low as 9 degrees.

I just wanted to express how much I absolutely love my camera. After being through all this, my camera still performs just as good as it did when my wife bought it. Ironically enough, my wife's camera broke at the hands of our toddler 8 months after she bought it. And to this day my camera still works. Below I have included pictures of my camera in its present condition, still covered in duct tape residue, scraped and worn. I did not expect my EasyShare to last as long and work as well as it has. Thank you for making such a great product and never again will I doubt the craftsmanship of a Kodak."

Gratefully,
Sgt Jacob West, USMC

College Humor

If you are looking for some videos of gorillas and people with their underwear over their clothes running around then we have the site for you.

Kodak held the Campus Chaos Challenge on collegehumor.com, with four challenges calling for video entries.

The challenges ranged from the Underwear Run - (Get as many people as possible to put underwear over their clothes and do a run through campus) to Anti-School Spirit - (Sit in your student cheering section decked out in the opposing school's colors).

So college humor may not be everyone's style of humor... but one thing is for sure... these students will do anything to win!
