Kodak at the Slumdog Millionaire afterparty

After the Oscars® I went over to the Slumdog Millionaire afterparty for a bit.

The gift bags included a Kodak Zi6 Pocket Video Camera!

Also, around the rooms were bowls filled with Kodak One Time Use Cameras.

They were provided for the guests to take pictures with. The best picture will win a Kodak Zi6.

What a great idea! Say cheese!

The Oscar's Red Carpet

I had a prime spot in the bleachers at the Oscar's® red carpet. I was right across from the location all the stars would stop and be interviewed for a few moments and have their picture taken.

I also saw our own Jeff Hayzlett being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest.

Jeff did quite a few interviews so we saw a lot of his back. With Jeff is Kim Snyder, President of Kodak's Entertainment Imaging Division.

He did take the time to bring Wolfgang Puck over to the bleachers to say hello though.

And he took a moment to get the bleacher crowd going too.

Did I mention there were a lot of stars?

It was hard to keep up with them all. I was using a Kodak Z980 with 24X zoom, which you can see really gets you in close! I was excited to try one out... they aren't even available until April! I am loving this camera!

I wasn't the only one using a Kodak camera! This Oscar® fan, John, was busy snapping away too.

Everyone continued down the red carpet right into Kodak Theatre. What a night!

More from the Oscars Red Carpet

The Oscars red carpet is now completely full and Kodak CMO came by! He was with his daughter, Lindsey.

What was Jeff wearing? Kodak yellow!

Jeff was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest, Deb Norville, Access Hollywood and more.

He said it's so exciting to walk the red carpet and be heading into Kodak Theatre.

Live from the Oscars Red Carpet Bleachers

I am blogging live from the Oscars red carpet bleachers right outside the Kodak Theatre. The bleachers are full of excited, anxious Oscar fans.

The Red Carpet walk doesn't start for a couple more hours but the crowd is already cheering every time a camera swings their way.

I am shooting video with my Kodak Zi6 and taking pictures with my Kodak M1093. I even have a Z980 to get some super close up shots.

I couldn't bring a laptop so right now I am sending pictues by phone. Later tonight I'll have better pictures and video posted. Stay tuned!

The excitement of the Oscars at Kodak Theatre

On Sunday night, all the excitement of the Academy Awards® is going to be focused at the Kodak Theatre. Kodak Theatre is located at the Hollywood & Highland Center right in historic Hollywood. It opened in November 2001 and became the first first permanent home of the Academy Awards®. Kodak announced the company sponsorship of the Kodak Theatre on George Eastman's birthday, July 12, 2000.

Evidence of the Oscars® can be found year round. Along the two story Awards Walk, there are backlit plaques with the names of each Best Picture Oscar® winner. Notice the spot for this year... who will it be?

Inside there is a five level lobby with a grand spiral staircase, topped with a silvery dome. There is an exclusive George Eastman Room which holds the only Kodak Oscar® statuette that is on display off Kodak property.

The theatre seats 3,332 guests but has details to make the space warm and create intimacy between the audience and the performers.

The stage is 120 feet wide and 75 feet deep, one of the largest in the country.

This is what the Kodak Theatre typically looks like.

This is what it looks like when it's getting ready for the Oscars®!

The site is buzzing with activity to prepare for the big show!

Signs and billboards can be seen everywhere!

Hmmm wonder what is under this giant sheet? A good guess would be it's a giant Oscar® statuette!

The view from above... bits of the red carpet can be seen. Many people are speculating what is in store for this year's awards ceremony. We do know that the designer of the Academy Awards® set, is the same architect of the Kodak Theatre! Other than that, looks like we will just have to wait and see.

The neverending love story of Mr. Pixel and Mrs. Grain

With still photography experiencing a swift transition to digital in the past few years, there are many discussions around motion pictures and the topic of film versus digital.

To further broach the topic, a series of three videos were created by The National Film & Television School in the UK, during a partnership with Kodak to address Film versus Digital.

In these humorous clips, the part of digital is played by the husband, Mr. Pixel and film is the wife, Mrs. Grain. The two are in marriage counseling and it is through their therapy that they discover there are benefits to both, and it brings them closer together.

The short films were shot on Kodak VISION2 50D, 5201and 7201 film. The series has been well received and was awarded the Arri IBC Award 2008. Kodak's Thierry Perronnet calls it... "Great creativity from one of the best Cinema School in the world. Humorous illustration of how you can get the benefit from both worlds of Film and Digital."

Check out the never-ending love story of Mr. Pixel and Mrs. Grain!
