We are really excited about our newest iPhone app, the Kodak SmileMaker, and you can get it free on iTunes!


The SmileMaker lets you choose from an assortment of smiles to add to a photo you take or pull from your saved photos. You can make the smile smaller or larger, rotate it or add multiple smiles for group shots. Even if you don't have big grins in your photo, no worries... The SmileMaker can turn frowns upside down.


When you have your smile in place you can save your new photo to Facebook, Twitter, your iPhone or the Kodak Gallery.

We think the SmileMaker is so cool, we made an "iPhone app commercial" style video for it. Heh heh. There's an app for that!

Here at Kodak we have been thinking a lot about relationships and connecting with friends and family, especially today, when we are busier than ever. In order to better understand how people are using technology to reconnect with others we commissioned a study from The Future Laboratory. The research shows how "reconnectivity" is being enabled by technology and digital imaging.



Human are hard wired to want to connect with one another and create relationships, and there are digital solutions that help with that even with challenges such as less time and more distance. This study delves in to some of these possibilities.

When Photojojo first launched their newsletter I was a fan. It has fun, creative insights into photography.

2009 "KODAK PHOTOJOJO BOOK" CONTEST

THIS CONTEST IS OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES WHO ARE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AT TIME OF ENTRY.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR CLAIM PRIZE. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. ELIGIBILITY: The 2009 "Kodak Photojojo Book" Twitter Contest (the "Contest") is open to legal residents of the United States, 18 years of age or older at time of entry. Officers, directors, employees and agents of Eastman Kodak Company (Kodak) and its respective affiliated companies, agencies, and immediate families (collectively, the Kodak Affiliates") are void from participation. The Contest is governed by U.S. law, is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and is void where prohibited.

2. HOW TO ENTER: To enter the Contest go to http://twitter.com/kodakcb and submit an answer via Twitter to the photo question posted. The Contest begins at 12 pm EST on September 21, 2009 and ends at 5:00 pm EST on September 25, 2009. Ten questions will be posted at random during the Contest . To enter, you must have a valid Twitter account. Signing up for Twitter is free of charge. Alternatively leave a comment on the blog post http://jennycisney.1000words.kodak.com/default.asp?item=2423349 explaining what your best Kodak moment has been. To post your entry click on "comments" below the comments section, and then click "Add Your Comment". Complete the form with name, email, and post your entry in the comment section. Type the security code in the box provided and click submit. Your entry will appear as a comment on the contest page.

You may not post or transmit an answer that contains threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, or profane material or any caption that could constitute or encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, that would otherwise violate any law, or is inconsistent with Kodak's brand image.  Answers may not speak negatively about Kodak or its products, or include any reference to any other company, including any competitor of Kodak, or include any third party trademarks.  Any answer that includes any such material, as determined by Kodak in its sole discretion, will be disqualified.


3. SELECTION OF WINNERS: The tenth eligible entrant to submit an answer to each photo question posted, according to the timestamp on the received twitter reply, will win the prize described below.  Limit one (1) WINNER per household throughout the entire Contest. Any questions regarding the determination of the winner will be decided in the sole discretion of Sponsor, whose decisions are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest.

4. PRIZES: There are a total of 20 prize winners. Each eligible prize winner will receive one (1) copy of "The Photojojo Book", with a retail value of $15.


Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be substituted by the winner. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY may substitute a prize of equal or greater value in its sole discretion. An individual may only win one-time over the course of the contest. Federal, state and local taxes associated with the acceptance of the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. Unclaimed or rejected prizes will not be awarded.

5. REDEEMING PRIZES: Winners will be notified at www.twitter.com/kodakcb or via email within 72 hours of photo questions being submitted. Once notified, the potential winner must respond to the email address provided by the administrator of EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY within 24-hours of notification with complete legal name and mailing address. All potential winners are subject to verification at the sole discretion of EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY. Anti-fraud detection devices may be used to verify winning certificates. Winning certificates will be void and ineligible for a prize if they fail to pass anti-fraud detection measures, or if found to be photocopied, reproduced, altered, forged, defaced, tampered with, mutilated, torn, stolen, un-issued, unauthorized, traded, bartered, sold, illegitimately obtained or illegible in any way, or if they fail to contain authorized special markings and/or security codes, or if defective or if they contain printing or other mechanical errors. You can send a friend on Facebook a smile in the form of 140 letters... be sweet, be kind or be funny.


Here are a few of the smiles I sent to my Facebook friends. Your friend gets a notice on their wall that you sent them a smile, and then they can send their own.


The cool thing is, the SmileMeter keeps tracks of how many smiles are shared. I am happy to say I raised the count with my smiles!


Of course we all have our competitive side, so there is a leaderboard that displays who has been sharing the most smiles.

Facebook Statistics include this statement - "More than 2 billion photos uploaded to the site each month". Wow.

Now there is a new exciting way to share those photos on Facebook! Kodak Konga Line, the Facebook App! Instead of just endlessly clicking through album pages your photos can dance across the screen. The really fun part is you start a Konga Line of photos and send it to your friends who can then add their own pictures to the line. There is a Konga party on Facebook and you're invited!


The app is very easy to use with 1, 2, 3 step instructions. Cha cha cha cha chah chah - HEY!


You can choose photos from your album or from a friend's photo collection. The drag and drop interface is very simple. You can add a title, description and even music.


It's a great idea for after a party (like a pumpkin picking party). Create a Konga Line of the party photos and then send it off to friends to add their own photos that you missed.

And the real bonus? You don't have to be a good dancer to use the Kodak Konga Line.
